此片為第二十七屆（二零零三年）香港國際電影節開幕電影，導演山田洋次是日本庶民電影專家，專做地道小吃，拍過四十六部《男人之苦》，他只編不導的《釣魚痴日記》至今年拍到第十三集，以夜校做背景的《學校》亦拍到第四集。他的其他非系列作品如《幸福黃手絹》、《兒子》都是淚中有笑，老老土土但處處見人間溫情的好電影。（…閱讀全文）
