《卡門》系列是木下惠介得意之作。一反他過往的感傷作風，將卡門塑造成爽朗活潑的人物。藉著卡門這個角色，對比日本鄉郊和城市中存在的荒謬。…如要從《卡門還鄉》和《純真的卡門》選擇其一，我會選擇後者，因其諷刺功夫實在到家。
