電影由金像影帝Sean Penn執導,改編自作家Jon Krakauer 的小說,是跟據真人真事改編的故事
此電影正是小說的改編電影版.是講述主角Christopher McCandless這名傳奇流浪家在高中畢業後的流浪事跡,他為了體驗生活,於1992年獨自前往亞拉斯加國家公園「獨居」百多天後,最終被發現陳屍在一輛廢巴士裡.
